This week, we've made a major breakthrough! The positional control algorithm of the DC motors is finally working, and settling at a given shaft angle within a second. The models and simulations are ready to accept parameters from the mechanical team, and the mechanical design of the Planar Space Robot has been continually refined. Now, the PSR will include custom air tanks to support our air bearings, without the bulk of a single large tank.
The electrical team has developed a power budget based on expected current and voltage requirements of the robot, and has begun designing the overall layout of the electrical system. In addition, they've been working on choosing a battery for the PSR, as well as a larger battery to support the power supply driving the large motors on the base.
